Modern Trends In Photosynthesis

In the recent years, studies on the first steps of photosynthesis have dramatically developped with the introduction of new concepts and new methods. Major questions remain : in optimal conditions each absorbed photon by the plant results in a charge separation in the reaction center. How can this efficiency (quantum yield close to 100%) can be ensured while it is now known that the photosynthetic membrane displays large disorder ? What is the exact role of the proteins ? What is the exact structure of the electronic states involved ? I will address these questions by commenting the new lines of research in this scientific field.
